Vilnius, Lithuania is the cultural, educational, financial and political center of the country and known for its spectacular Old Town and unique architecture. Russian and Lithuanian are the predominant languages of the city.
 

Program Description:
This 8-week program offers 150 contact hours (10 semester hours) of intensive language instruction and cultural immersion taught by the European Humanities University and William & Mary faculty in Vilnius, Lithuania. In addition, classes and workshops on history and culture will build regional knowledge. Students will immerse into the culture by living in a hotel near the school and will have an opportunity to explore the region on excursions.

Russian Culture Course - 1 Credit
Pre-departure Course - 1 Credit

Course Information:
PREREQUISITES  ** Heritage Speakers or Self-Study students are encouraged to apply!
Year 2 Russian –One academic year (8–10 credits) of elementary Russian.
Year 3 Russian –Two Academic years (16-20 credits) of elementary and intermediate Russian.
 
By the end of the course, students should expect to reach a Russian proficiency between ILR0+and ILR1+ depending on the level at the start of the program.
 
There is a required 1 credit course to be taken remotely (online) prior to departure. This course is designed specifically for students going on the summer program and is intended to enhance your Russian cross-cultural understanding and to cover a variety of pre-departure information. The scheduling of this course will be dependent on the class times possible for program participants.

Excursions: visits to local shopping and food markets, Gedeminas and Trakai Castles, Museum of Occupations and Freedom, Klaipeda (on Baltic Sea), Riga, Latvia and other exciting locations.

Program Fees:
All Project GO programs provide funding for the participant:

• Tuition/fees
• Room and Board
• Travel to/from study location
• Program-related Excursions
• Books
• Insurance
• Visa

 
*The following costs will not be included in Project GO Funding: personal spending money, personal travel, costs for obtaining a passport, and medication.
 
Please Note: Project GO participants planning to travel abroad MUST have a valid U.S. passport in their possession no later than 90 days before anticipated travel date.  The passport must not expire within 6 months of the end date of the program.



Eligibility:

In order to be eligible, at the time of application, an applicant must be:

• A U.S. citizen.
• An undergraduate or graduate student on track to commission through the Army, Naval, or Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), contracted or non-contracted, at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States. Marine Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) students are also eligible.

Overseas Participants
In order to be eligible to participate in a Project GO overseas program, for the duration of the program successful applicants must:
 

• Remain in ROTC for the duration of the program.
• Not be commissioned officers.
• Be in an inactive, non-drilling status.
• Not be employed by the U.S. federal government or any foreign government. 

Not Eligible for Project GO

• Non-U.S. citizens
• Active duty military members (not participating in ROTC)
• Navy Seaman to Admiral Program members
• Officer Candidate School participants
• JROTC students
• Service academy students
• Federal government employees 

Selection
Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of merit. Review panels will consider the following criteria:

• Academic merit
• Language experience
• Cultural sensitivity
• Leadership
• Commitment to Project GO mission
• Diversity
