Galway is a charming city in the west of Ireland where the locals refer to themselves as "Galwegians." It is the fifth largest and fastest-growing city in the country and is known as "Ireland's Cultural Heart." Home to numerous castles, cathedrals, and museums, Galway has an interesting history and culture interwoven with many myths and legends. The city, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle, is also known as a hub for the arts and hosts numerous festivals and celebrations throughout the year. The National University of Ireland was founded in 1845 as Queen's College, Galway and is host to numerous student societies, namely the Literary and Debating Society and the Film Society.

Program Description:
The Galway program is hosted by the National University of Ireland at Galway, one of Ireland’s foremost centers of academic excellence. Through these excursions, students will explore a variety of different site-specific themes that draw heavily on Irish history, culture. The location in Western Ireland on the Connemara Peninsula is both culturally vibrant and naturally beautiful. Students will also have the opportunity to attend the theater and arts events which flourish across the city.
Students will live in university apartment-style housing, equipped with kitchens for student use.
Course Information: Students can choose to take up to 2 courses during the summer program. Students can earn 6 credits on the summer program. One course taught by W&M faculty. More course information forthcoming for Summer 2025.
There is a required 1 credit course to be taken in the spring term prior to departure, which you will be registered for following program acceptance. This course is designed specifically for students going on the summer program and is intended to enhance your cross-cultural understanding of Galway and to cover a variety of pre-departure information.
Course is taught by W&M faculty. Grades will appear on the W&M transcript and will be included in GPA calculations.
Please note that students cannot receive COLL 200 and COLL 300 for the same course.

Application fee information:
The application fee is due by the deadline and should be paid online at the
GEO Marketplace Store. Whoever is making the payment will need student 93#, email, and phone number. The application fee is refundable in the event that you are not accepted into the program or the program is canceled by W&M.

If applying for a Reves Summer Scholarship, please apply to the W&M faculty-led application BEFORE applying to the Reves Summer Scholarship.
Eligibility:
- Students must be an active W&M undergraduate student in good standing, not on academic or disciplinary probation during time abroad, and eligible to take classes at the W&M Williamsburg campus to study abroad.
- Students must successfully complete 1 credit virtual summer course.
