With a program entitled Contemporary India: Development, Environment, Public Health beginning in spring 2009, the Alliance is establishing a center in downtown Pune, a vibrant, bustling city of 3.5 million located a short train ride from Mumbai. Students will take part in an internship opportunity or directed research, will take a core course on Contemporary India, and will enroll in electives including Social Justice, Development Economics, Environmental Issues, Film, and Public Health for a total of 15-18 credits per semester. In addition, a full range of co-curricular opportunities and urban and rural field trips complements the program curriculum.
Students will be offered opportunities for placement within Pune's most exciting NGOs, the international business and technology community, and institutions such as the National Film Archives.
