Bengaluru, also referred to as Bangalore, is the capital of the Indian State of Karnataka, in which over 8 million people call home.  The city is known as the "Silicon Valley of India" or as the "IT capital of India" due to the large number of IT companies headquartered there.  In addition to these monikers, Bengaluru is also referred to as the "Garden City of India" due to the large number of public parks in the city, including a large botanical garden. Bengaluru is also the home of the National Law School of India University.

Goa still exhibits the cultural influences of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants. The Portuguese overseas territory of Portuguese India existed for about 450 years, until it was annexed by India in 1961. Renowned for its beaches, places of worship and world heritage architecture, Goa is visited by large numbers of international and domestic tourists each year. It also has rich flora and fauna, owing to its location on the Western Ghats region, which is classified as a biodiversity hotspot.

Program Description:

Students begin the program in Bengaluru, staying and studying at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), where they are hosted.  At NLSIU students attend panel discussions and excursions to local NGOs and businesses, depending upon the course offerings that year.  Students also get an opportunity to work with Master's in Public Policy students at NLSIU.   From Bengaluru, the program will head to Goa, where students will have course-related excursions to points of interest around Goa will enhance the student’s understanding of the economic and cultural background of the region.  Possible additional excursions might include an overnight visit to an organic spice plantation or a trip to Hampi, a UNESCO Wold Heritage Site.

Students will be housed in Bengaluru at the NLSIU in apartment-style dormitories, and in Goa at the International Centre of Goa, where they will also attend clcass.   On excursions students will be housed in hotels. All meals are provided on-site (included in the program fee).
