Program Description:

SIT Study Abroad: Morocco: Human Rights, Social Justice, and Cultural Transformation

Examine the challenges shaping Morocco and the Arab world since the 2011 Arab Spring. Explore movements for human rights and social justice and the cultural transformations emerging from them. Study the present-day characteristics of these struggles through lenses such as gender, individual liberties, globalization, and political change. Excursions to the north and south offer a view of the systems of power and privilege that have produced inequality and unjust environmental conditions and organizations that are working to create change.

Please visit the SIT Study Abroad website for details on the program highlights and details of coursework, educational excursions, and housing.

HEAR FROM A FORMER STUDENT
"I had the time of my life on this program. I loved the staff; they are so dedicated to connecting you with the right resources. I loved the excursions--we were exposed to landscapes I didn't know could exist, wonderful food, and they served as great bonding experiences for my fellow peers and me. The research part (ISP) was probably my favorite aspect because you can live or travel anywhere within Morocco, conduct (and learn how to) research on a topic you enjoy learning about, and you meet awesome people."
