Program Description:

SIT Study Abroad: Samoa: Social and Environmental Change in Oceania

 

Discover the social, economic, and political impacts of globalization, westernization, and climate change in Oceania. From your base in Apia, Samoa’s capital, study social justice issues and efforts to protect the environment across the Pacific. Hear perspectives on conservation and resilience from Samoans and other Pacific Islanders, and interact with local university students. Excursions include Samoa’s volcanic island of Savai‘i and a journey to Fiji, where you’ll examine the impacts of development, tourism, and climate change on diverse communities.

EARN A MINOR

SIT’s program in Samoa offers the opportunity to earn a minor in Oceanic studies or Indigenous studies. Through this program, you will discover the social, economic, and political impacts of globalization, westernization, and climate change in Oceania.
