Summer Study Abroad in Arusha, Tanzania
Capacity Building and Human Rights in East Africa
This summer, Arcadia offers you the unique opportunity to study in Tanzania, an unparalleled academic experience focusing on human rights education at the Arcadia Center for East African Studies. Your international peace studies will focus on the region of East Africa specifically, and will be informed by the work of the legal and developmental human rights organizations in operation there. Practical approaches to various human-rights issues will be explored, and visits to field sites in Arusha and in the Maasai community will round out the peace education experience. This undergraduate summer opportunity was developed in coordination with Arcadia University's International Peace and Conflict Resolution Master's program.
You'll be taught by expert faculty in the field of peace and international conflict studies. In addition, you will interact with collaborating partners from the East African Law Society,as well as numerous guest speakers from major African governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the East African Community (EAC), the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR), and the African Union Court of Human and People's Rights.
