Afford yourself a dose of Irish culture this summer and earn credit while doing it! The Arcadia University Contemporary Irish Studies program is a six-week, six-credit program that will introduce you to a wide variety of subjects on Ireland while experiencing life in its capital city. You'll embark on a fascinating exploration of modern Irish literature, politics, and history as you study in the vibrant city of Dublin. The program is offered through the Institute of Public Administration, a recognized college of the National University of Ireland that focuses exclusively on civil and public sector development. Classes will be held at the Institute's beautiful headquarters in the Ballsbridge section of Dublin, an upscale, residential neighborhood that also houses a large concentration of foreign embassies.
You will be enrolled in two courses: Irish Literature, which explores the works of major Irish writers, dramatists and poets, including illustrious figures such as James Joyce and W.B. Yeats and Irish History and Politics, covering the defining events of 20th-century Ireland.
We encourage you to contact your program manager for advice on the application process, choosing courses, or simply what you should pack. Once you arrive in Ireland, our staff will lead an orientation program in Dublin that will introduce you to the culture, history and politics of Ireland as well as preparing you for the academic challenges of studying in a different educational system.
