Program Description:
Cadiz Collage

** This program is no longer running in Summer 2021 due to low enrollment. 

Join W&M virtually in Cádiz, Spain this summer. During this virtual program, students will take a deep dive into Spanish language and culture.

About W&M  Virtual Summer Program:

The course will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous modules.  Students will receive 6 credits total and COLL300.  Funding is available through the Reves Summer Scholarship.  Students in the Cádiz virtual summer program will take courses in Spanish language and culture and complete independent research. Classes with University of Cádiz professors the history of art in Andalucia. Students will also complete an independent research project under the supervision of W&M’s Program Director.

This program will include virtual co-curricular activities that engage students with the local culture, people, and places in Cadiz.This program aims to immerse students in local culture and traditions.

Program Schedule: 
Students will participate in classes daily Monday-Friday for several hours each.  Students should expect to be in class for approximately 4 hours per day.  Students participate in co-curricular activities aimed to familiarize students with Spanish life and culture. Some scheduled co-curricular activities to include cooking class, dancing class, virtual visit with a homestay family, among other activities.  Students will conduct mentored research on a relevant topic of interest. Our overseas partners will help provide resources to students in regard to their research.  


Language Requirement:
1 Spanish-Language course numbered HISP 207 (or equivalent) or above.

Course Information:
Students will earn 6 credits total through the Cádiz summer program.

HISP 392: History of Art in Andalucia  (2 Credits)
HISP 235: Independent Research Project (3 credits)

Plus 1 credit pre-course to focus on research component to begin prior to the program. 

Courses are taught by W&M faculty and faculty at the University of Cádiz. Grades will appear on the W&M transcript and will be included in GPA calculations.

Program Dates:

One Credit course Dates: June 1st-June 6th.
One credit course is required. Students must successfully complete the 1 credit pre-course. 

Start : June 7th, 2021
End: July 2nd, 2021

Program Cost: $3090 (in-state and out-of-state program fee)*.

Scholarship for this program is available. Please apply to the Reves Summer Scholarship by the application deadline. 
Funding will be awarded based on financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
