Arcadia Toledo Spain In conjunction with the Fundación José Ortega y Gasset in Toledo, Arcadia is pleased to offer a summer internship program in Toledo. This program offers students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the Spanish workplace while taking a course especially designed to support the internship experience and provide a forum for students to reflect upon the sociological, economic, and cultural issues they are learning about in their internships.

Academic Program
The program details are as follows:

    * Six weeks
    * 30 contact hours per week on site (for 6 credits)
    * 15 contact hours per week on site (for 3 credits)
    * 1-2 students maximum per placement
    * Enrollment in course designed to support the internship experience (3 or 6 credits)
    * Students are required to complete a final paper to be presented to class

Placement Information
Internship placements are available in a variety of fields including:

    * Local and regional government (Regional Parliament, City Hall)
    * Business and Economics (Chamber of Commerce, banks, Business Federation of Toledo/FEDETO)
    * Health and Human Services (local hospitals, Red Cross)
    * Communications (local newspaper, televisión, and radio)
    * Social Work (non-governmental agencies providing services for recent immigrants and children)
    * Tourism (regional, nacional)
    * Library and Museum studies (Castilla y la Mancha Library, local museums)

The Arcadia Advantage
Before you arrive in Toledo, you can contact our program manager for advice on the application process, choosing courses, housing or simply what you should pack. Once you arrive, our resident director (in conjunction with the Fundación staff) will lead an orientation program that will introduce you to the culture, history and politics of Spain as well as preparing you for the academic challenges of studying in a different educational system.
